Nursing specialist is a still fairly new training occupation which, as of January 2020, combines and replaces the training programs for healthcare and nursing staff, geriatric nurses and healthcare and pediatric nurses. The new training is generalist, which means that trainees learn about all areas of nursing.
All students start the generalist training to become nursing specialists. However, the separate degrees of geriatric nur se and health and pediatric nurse are also possible as part of the nursing specialist training. You can choose one of the two degrees in the last third of your training if you complete your training at a suitable facility.
The training to become a nurse takes three years. It is a school-based training with practical assignments. You will complete the majority of your practical training at your training company.
Depending on the type of training company, you will automatically specialize in a particular area during your training: this can be long-term inpatient care in a nursing home, long-term acute care in a hospital, or outpatient care in a nursing service. To ensure that you gain experience in all areas of care, you will also have assignments in other, external facilities.
As a cook, you prepare meals. This includes not only the work at the stove itself, but also preparatory activities such as menu planning or the purchase of new goods. Only fresh food is cooked in our kitchen.
You only spend a small part of your working time actually cooking. The rest of the time, you prepare things or do the finishing touches. Because order and cleanliness are also an integral part of your work as a cook.
The apprenticeship usually lasts 3 years. Your training has a dual structure, which means that you alternate between the company and vocational school.
In the company, you learn the practical side of the profession of chef and take on specific tasks. At the vocational school, you will learn the theoretical background.
